What times and days does each section meet?
What do volunteers do?
At Scouts we celebrate difference and welcome everyone.
Whatever your background, identity or ability, there’s a volunteer spot with your name on it.
Volunteering can be a brilliant way to boost your mental wellbeing. It’s a great feeling knowing you’re helping young people get skills for life, and you might even learn a lot about yourself along the way.
Scouts can make you feel good in other ways too. We’ll guide you to an opportunity where you’ll:
Make friends and meet people
Try new things and challenge yourself
Get outdoors and get stuck in
Positively impact your community
Create vital opportunities for young people
Make memories that'll last a lifetime
If you can only occasionally help, that’s OK. Whether you’d like to be an activity planner, tea-maker or craft creator, we appreciate any time you can spare.

An Investiture is a ceremony where someone makes their Scout Promise, is welcomed to a Scout section, and becomes a member of their group and the worldwide Scout family. Investitures are important and special ceremonies, but this doesn’t mean they have to be strict or scary! Parents / Guardians are invited to come along and show their support and even film it to keep as a memory! The section leader will explain to your child how and what they will need to do.
Each section has slightly different variations on the Scouts Promise. They should also learn their Scout Law and the Scout Motto. See below for guidance for each section.
Scouts is open to people of all faiths and of none. We have different variations of our Promise, so everyone can make a Promise that means something to them, no matter their background or belief. Learn more about the variations >
